Jack Herer was an advocate for reversing marijuana laws when such a notion highy unacceptable socially. This was originally published during the Just Say No/Reagan era in 1985 when several of the myths about marijuana were believed by the majority of Americans. Herer needs to be recognized as one of the pioneers who exposed the various lies about marijuana that have been perpetuated by the government. This book tears down so many of the stereotypes about this drug, plant, and natural resource. "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" is obviously an advocacy book, but it was written in a completely intellectually honest manner with remarkable research to back up the author's claims. It strikes a perfect balance between scholarly and easily digestable. The book includes lengthy excerps of Congressional testimony for ardent scholars, but it is also a very visually appealing book with numerous graphics for casual readers.
This book changed my mind about so-called drugs. All my life I was against marijuana because I was told bad stuff about it from childhood. Now that I am approaching 60 I have changed my mind. I highly recommend this book to anyone plus there is more on the internet. Marijuana should be as legal as spaghetti. It's an amazing, god-given herb. Open your mind and study it on the internet. Nothing less then amazing.
This is a great reference book, especially for those who know nothing else about marijuana other than what they see in movies and TV. It's all documented such as medical research studies, library of Congress index numbers, governments perpetual lack of fact and actual unsupported lies . A good historical book based in facts not baseless opinions.

I then ordered a copy here on Amazon and with a copy of the Counties resolution, I included this book, still wrapped as delivered from Amazon to the President of the United States. I also included a letter from me to he.I never received even a cursory note from a staffer acknowledging receipt of my package.I understand the President has a lot on his plate yet, removal of scientifically distinct Hemp from control of the DEA and placed under the guidance and authority of the Department of Agriculture is not only justified but, the economy would see a growth of investment of farming equipment, manufacturing would begin to incorporate hemp-derived products, especially in the two most important sectors (IMHO) of Bio-degradable Plastic and Hempcrete incorporated in our building industry."The federal CSA of '72 says that a state's scheduling of controlled substances is preeminent and trumps federal scheduling."21 U.S.C. 903 reads: Title 21 United States Code (USC)Controlled Substances Act Section 903. You will never lose an argument about the thousands of benefits of cannabis again. Knowledge is power, and fighting mis-/dis-information with accurate information (with proof/references!!!) is the only way to ensure that we make well-informed decisions and changes in society.This book is not for stoners, although they will enjoy it, too. Let's take our government back and make it work for the citizens again instead of for corporate interests. Cannabis can save the world. But don't take my word for it.
