My 7 year old first grader loves the Explode the Code series. I like that the activities repeat and she does too. Looking at the books, they aren't colorful and don't seem appealing to kids, but they are!I skip around the book when needed. I love that there is a book between 3 and 4. Just what we need!
Explode the Code 3 1/2 is exactly what it says it is - more review on the material presented in #3. My grandson is autistic and needed the extra practice, so it is great for him. If your child has easily mastered Explode #3, order #4 instead of 3 1/2.As usual, Explode the Code does a great job of incrementally focusing on the many steps that help children (and adults!) crack the code of the English language.
Explode the Code is a great phonic series. I have used these with students up to 3rd grade and even some low 4th graders and the improvement I see in their reading is amazing! It's self-explanatory and easy to use.
I have been using the Explode the Code series of workbooks for years and it's an EXCELLENT series! I have six children and have been homeschooling for 17 years. Unfortunately, I only discovered this series about five years ago, so I've only been able to use it with my two youngest. I wish I could have used it for all my children. It really teaches them to think and uses picture clues to strengthen their reading comprehension. It is one of the best products that I have run across and my kids love it, too. There are no lessons or explanations necessary. You just pick it up and start learning as you go.
We have used all Explode the Cod books for Phonics and love them. My 5 year old spells so well thanks to these books. I recommend them to anyone homeschooling.
Excellent book for teaching/learning phonics. My kids find these books fun and look forward to phonics lessons. Only a few pages a day does the job. No tears learning.
My daughter finds these quick and easy to work through, simple and repetitive system of books means I can leave her to work on this independently while I work with another child and I know what she'll be working on. Would recommend these and have done so
